Spaghetti Pizza

I love cookbooks; I could look through them all day. For my recent graduation I received a new cookbook: Braddock, North Dakota: 125 years, Collection of Favortie Recipes and Memories. Now for those of you who are cookbook familiar, and those of you who aren't (listen up) these cookbooks are the best; they are the ones that have recipes sent from generation-to-generation, contain recipes for comfort foods that only gradmas can perfect and contain ingredients like lard (even though I have yet to use lard). I am sure I will post more recipes that I have used from this cookbook as there are so many that I would like to try, but until then, Spaghetti Pizza (p.104, Diane Mock) will be the first! The guinea pig of my cooking/baking creations, my husband, told me I should make this again, which is how I know a recipe is a success! He loves dishes with noodles (ie lasagna, spaghetti) because he says they make good leftovers. Anyways, on to the recipe & pictures...
Spaghetti Pizza
1 (16 oz.) box spaghetti, cooked
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 c. Mozzarella cheese
1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix the above ingredients together. Pour into a greased 9x13-inch pan and bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Top with a jar of pizza sauce. Top with browned hamburger, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, mushrooms, olives, cheese, or other pizza topping you like. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

The toppings I used: browned seasoned hamburger, pepperoni, canadian bacon, bacon (which I diced & cooked prior), diced green, yellow, & red peppers & onions, sliced black and green olives. On a side note: I used two smaller cans of pizza sauce (I think it could have used a little more-which I will try next time).

!Warning!: I doubt this is healthy!
I did not have mozzarella cheese so I used colby jack!

The finished product!

The innards...YUM!

  4. I made this recipe last night and it was a hit! I used wheat pasta and for toppings I used lots of fresh chopped tomatoes, green and red peppers, canadian bacon, 1 lb. hamburger, and green and black olives. We ate it again for lunch today and the leftovers tasted just as good. Joel says make it again but leave out the green olives. :) Thanks so much Maxi!!!
